ASCAL Director Mr. Elvin Gjevori gives interview to Fax News regarding National Student Survey

Mr. Elvin Gjevori, director of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education has been invited to Fax News where he has commented on the National Student Survey, which is being organized with students on the quality of education in the country.

According to Mr. Gevori this survey is spread all over the country, and so far 15% of students who have completed the questionnaire. The director of ASCAL further said that the survey seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of higher education in the country, in order to serve as a reference regarding University choices for college students in the future.

“Given the fact that there have been many holidays, the deadline has been extended until May 5, 2019, in order to give all students, the opportunity to get involved. The National Student Survey is being carried out for the first time in Albania, and is part of the University Pact, where for the first time we will have a structured student opinion on Higher Education Institutions.

We have launched a nationwide campaign to inform this survey, have set up working groups and specialists have gone to every Higher Education Institution and conducted meetings with all students. At the end of the 82 meetings we sent the students the survey link to their email. We chose a timeframe where students had no engagements, and we were constantly reminding them to complete the survey. So far about 15% of students have completed it, and this is a significant figure compared to developed and experienced countries such as England, where the figure reaches up to 35%. After having requested email lists from HEIs we sent surveys to students, ”said Gjerovi.

We remind that this survey was also promoted by the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama and the Minister of Education, Sport and Youth Mrs. Besa Shahini, during the meetings they had with the students in the framework of the meetings for the University Pact.
